History:
The COL. JAMES M. SCHOONMAKER  was formerly known as S.S. Willis B. Boyer Museum Ship. Built as the largest and most advanced freighter on the Great Lakes, the COL. JAMES M. SCHOONMAKER made its maiden voyage shipping coal from Toledo to Sheboygan, WI in 1911. This 617-foot freighter is open for tours.

Vistor Info:
The Schoonmaker is part of the National Museum of the Great Lakes. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $11 for adults, $8 for youth 6-17 and $10 for seniors 65 and older. There is a $4 charge to visit the Schoonmaker (open May-October) and hours are subject to change based on time of year or holidays. Please check website for hours before attending.
